  1/12/23 Analyzing writing      Hello guys, how do feel we are now at the end of the semester? Anaylsing children’s writing is a new experience for me, I remember my first year in the teaching profession I was asked to analyse students writing, with little or no knowledge. As I read, I restructured and edited their writing. However, the lectures on analysing a child’s writing made me realize that I did not give children the opportunity to develop their writing style, in that I expected them to structure their writing to mirror mine. I now understand when analysing someone’s writing some specific writing traits must guide this process, such as sentence fluency, word choice, organization, voice, presentation, and ideas. Understanding the writing convention makes analysing simpler because there are specific traits that can be focused on. The acronym VIPCOWS is vital in the writing process.
